Participants Invited to Take Survey on Nutrition and Parkinsonís Disease

(August 12, 2015)—The Parkinson Alliance invites people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) to participate in our survey-based research project entitled “Nutrition and Parkinson’s Disease.”  The objective of this current study is to deepen the understanding about the perspective and habits of individuals with PD pertaining to nutrition and related variables.  If you have Parkinson's disease, you are eligible to take our survey which is now accessible online at DBS4PD.org

There are two ways to complete the survey on Nutrition:
•    Online at DBS4PD.org
•    Request a hard copy by calling The Parkinson Alliance at (800) 579-8440

Nutrition gets quite a bit of attention in the general community, and it is getting more and more attention in the PD community.  Nutrition and well-being - generally - can be quite complex; add PD to the picture, and the complexity and challenges are magnified.  There are many questions regarding Nutrition and Parkinson’s such as how do individuals with PD manage nutrition in the context of general well-being, symptoms of PD, disease course, medications, etc.?  How does nutrition management help with PD?  In this study, we will investigate nutrition and related variables from the individual’s perspective.

When individuals with PD participate in this survey, their "voice" will be heard and their participation can help others with PD, carers as well as treatment providers.  Participation is completely voluntary and all information provided by survey participants will be kept strictly confidential.

The data collection for this report will conclude on December 15, 2015; and participants are urged to complete the survey as soon as possible.

To participate in this important research endeavor, individuals can visit DBS4PD.org and complete a survey online.
